A 17′ tall ladder. It will have platforms at 5′ and 12′ underneath between rungs that you can climb up to sit and hang out or check out the view. My goal is to encourage people to walk under the ladder, because I think superstitions are silly and I want to push boundaries! Participants will be able to climb on the ladder and hang out, dance, sleep, whatever their hearts desire.
My project is a fanciful swing set. It will be tall, about ten feet high or so, with two swings, and be made mainly of steel. I want to encourage people to feel youthful and have fun, while creating an interesting focal point that can be seen from afar.
(pronounced ig-nes fat-u-i) Arising from the desert like a mirage, Ignes Fatui, from Medieval Latin meaning “foolish fire” are atmospheric ghost lights seen by travelers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes. It resembles a flickering lamp and is said to recede if approached, drawing travelers from the afar. Created to bring light and continuity to the main street of Saguaro Man. By adding motion and dancing, changing and swirling light, it not only brings excitement and energy to the boardwalk at night, but brings the length of the road into focus as well, inviting walkers to further explore out into the darkness.
Inspiration for the project was two boxes of Barbie dolls and the Big Rig Grille. An 8′ letter “Q” completely covered in Barbie dolls; with a Stage with loose Barbies and Kens for interactive play.
The Burner Guide Stones was inspired by a large granite work known as the Georgia Guide Stones. Routed into the individual stones will be the 10 burner principles, in eight different languages. Capping the stones it will say in 4 different languages, “Let these be Guide Stones to an age of Peace.”
